Solid Ground Solicits Applicants For Its Community Accountability Council

Solid Ground, a local non-profit, works to end poverty through building community.  Begun in 1974, in Fremont, and still serving those in need here – and region wide – Solid Ground has dozens of programs aimed at aiding those homeless and home in-secure.

At Solid Ground, they believe that people know best what they need, and should be involved in making the decisions that affect their lives.  They are currently seeking those who have received assistance, from Solid Ground and elsewhere, to join the new Community Accountability Council (CAC.)  With input, Solid Ground can better understand the real-life experience of people seeking services, and better shape Solid Ground policies and programs.

The CAC seeks applications from people who want to promote community-driven solutions to issues affecting people experiencing poverty.  CAC members will participate in leadership development, advocacy and social justice training to engage decision-makers.  Applicants will be people eager to explore the root causes of poverty and advancing solutions on how to address them.

CAC members will be asked to attend monthly meetings (currently on the 4th Thursday,) and actively participate, while also committing to support Solid Ground’s work to end poverty and undo oppressions that keep people trapped in it.  In return, CAC members will receive dinner at those monthly meetings, and a monthly honorarium of $75.  Childcare during the meetings, and transportation, are also available.

Find out about what Solid Ground is seeking in an applicant, and how to apply, on-line (click here,) or at one of the remaining CAC information sessions:

  • March 14th from 6p – 7p, or
  • March 19th from 6p – 7p

Both sessions will take place at the Solid Ground offices (1501 N 45th St,) on the first floor in the Cheryl Cobbs Murphy Room.  To R.S.V.P., or ask questions, contact Carolyn Taggart at CAC@solid-ground.org or 206-694-6819.
