Three democrats from the 36th District, Senator Reuven Carlyle, Representative Gael Tarleton and Representative Noel Frame, reported that the state budget just approved contains infrastructure investments for our area.

Washington State Governor Jay Inslee has signed a $52.4 billion operating budget, and a $4.9 billion capital construction budget, along with a $9.8 billion transportation budget.

Among the many projects funded by the State budget, in our area it funds:

  • $1.5 million for infrastructure to clean polluted storm-water runoff at both ends of the Aurora (George Washington Memorial) Bridge

  • $700,000 to install variable, digital speed signs on both approaches to the Aurora bridge, like those on Seattle-area freeways
  • $750,000 to help the Ballard Food Bank, which serves those in most need in Fremont, purchase land to build a new permanent home

These projects are intended to support growth and improvements in our community.  “As our city continues to grow, it’s vital that we prioritize public infrastructure that benefits our long-term quality of life,” according to Sen. Carlyle.
