State Farm Offers $25k Grants For Non-Profits Improving Neighborhoods

The State Farm Neighborhood Assist® program has returned for its tenth year.  This program will award $1 million in $25,000 increments to 40 non-profit organizations across the U.S.  After a year unlike any other, with our communities struggling like never before, the State Farm Neighborhood® program is aimed at helping fund improvement projects that can help those who need it most.

Jeff Kalvelage, the agent for State Farm in Fremont, would like to help any non-profits in our area looking for funds for neighborhood improvements.  According to a recent State Farm research study, one-quarter of respondents say that they are ‘extremely’ or ‘very’ involved in trying to improve their neighborhood and six-in-ten are trying to improve their neighborhood in some capacity.  According to un-scientific research done by Fremocentrist.com, in Fremont those numbers are much higher – but the lack of funding, and funding sources, is making completing these projects much more difficult.

The State Farm Neighborhood Assist® program can be a catalyst for making those improvements.

Starting on June 2nd, individuals can submit a cause for consideration on the NeighborhoodAssist.com website (click here) – and the submission process will end when 2,000 causes have been identified.  The submission guide is now available for download, and Fremont’s State Farm Agent Jeff Kalvelage is available to give tips and assistance on crafting a submission.  The 2,000 submissions will be reviewed by a State Farm Review Committee and narrowed down to the Top 200 finalists.

“Grant programs that address community needs, like Neighborhood Assist, are more important than ever,” said State Farm Agent Kalvelage.  “This program is all about building stronger neighborhoods together.”

Ultimately, the public will be allowed to vote (up to 10 times a day, every day) from August 18th – 27th.  These voters can support their favorite causes, and encourage State Farm to select those non-profits that voters most want chosen.  Last year, 145,000 people cast 3.9 million votes, selecting winners in small towns and big cities.  Voting will also take place at NeighborhoodAssist.com

The winners of the State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grants will be announced on September 29th.  Since the program began, 10 years ago, more than 340 causes have received a total of $9 million to enact change in their communities.
