Over the last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Seattle & King County Public Health have issued changes to necessary safety measures in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Northwest Marketplaces continues to strictly follow whatever measures need to be taken to keep visitors and vendors safe at the outdoor markets, including the Fremont Sunday Market currently open every week!
For 2021, the Fremont Sunday Market returned, and recently re-opened its HyperMarket in the Dreamland garage. With a focus on vintage and antiques, HyperMarket vendors bring a lot of kitsch and collectibles for visitors to ooh and aww over.
While the HyperMarket is open, the entire Fremont Sunday Market remains gated, with entry at Phinney Ave N and exit at Evanston. The goal is to have the Market, along with Northwest Marketplaces’ South Lake Union Saturday Market, open fully after the June 30th goal set by Washington’s Governor Jay Inslee. This could eliminate the gated entry and enforcement of face mask requirements.
Northwest Marketplaces respects everyone, and their right to protect themselves. They encourage education by attendees, staffers and vendors on safe practices in fighting the coronavirus, and vaccinations. For now, the Market awaits directions from Public Health about any changes allowed on existing restrictions, and an easing on the mask mandates.
Of course, anyone who wants to wear a mask, or maintain social distance, even after restrictions are lifted, are welcome to do so at any of the Markets. The hope is, though, that with the lifting of restrictions, more vendors (perhaps up to 30% more) will be able to join the Sunday Market line-up. If you know someone who wants to vend in Fremont, or at any of the Northwest Marketplaces shopping events, send them to ManageMyMarket.com (click here,) for registration.
The Fremont Sunday Market remains a great way to find hand-made crafts and innovative products sold by micro-business owners. The Market allows budding entrepreneurs to incubate a new business, and families to supplement incomes with sales of hand-made products – curated by Northwest Marketplaces. Meet the artisans and artists in this creative ‘mall-like’ outdoor shopping tradition, more than 30 years in the making! Find out more on the Fremont Market website (click here.)
