Donors can still contribute to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Big Climb, which took place on March 20th. Donations can still be made, to support the mission of LLS – to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS invests millions of dollars in research, in the U.S. and 8 other countries, runs family support groups nationwide, gives financial assistance to patients, and provides peer-matching throughout the Washington and Alaska chapter.
Consider giving to Soul Team, and Lynette Johnson, owner of Soulumination, located in Ballard. Johnson’s photography business offers free professional photos to families with a child suffering a life-threatening illness, or a parent at the end of life. For 10 years, Johnson has worked with people fighting cancer, so when she was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2012, the news came as a huge shock. “I am especially motivated in fund raising for the climb as I get to know many young people with blood cancers whose lives are cut short…” Johnson has written, “We need new and less harsh treatments; we must have more options.”
Through Monday, April 4th, donors can give to support Lynette’s Soul Team and LLS with a gift to the Big Climb fundraiser, when volunteers summit the 1,311 steps of the Columbia Tower in Downtown Seattle to fulfill pledges. This year, for the 30th Annual Big Climb, registration sold out in 8 hours and an estimated 6,000 people participated.
In 2015, the 29th Big Climb raised a record-breaking $2.29 million. Help make this another record-breaking year for raising funds to fight blood cancers. Donate today to LLS and the 30th Big Climb Seattle!
