September is Hunger Action Month, a time for food bank supporters to help spread the word about the need to, and the ways we can all, combat hunger in our community. This Hunger Action Month, the folks at FamilyWorks ask for help and support for the Greenwood Food Resource Center (GFRC.)
In April of 2016, FamilyWorks partnered with The Salvation Army to re-open the GRFC after a funding shortfall forced its closure by the previous administrators. Over the past 16 months, the GFRC has grown into a vital resource, aiding over 450 households in need.
There are many ways we can support our vulnerable neighbors, at the FamilyWorks and/or Greenwood food banks. Please consider:
- Sign-up for a monthly donation (click here) and consider that a $25 donation feeds one family each week
- Coordinate a food drive among friends, family, co-workers, neighbors or any group you can gather (click here for contact information and guidelines)
- Participate in a virtual food drive – help purchase food in bulk, which can double or sometimes triple the effectiveness of monetary donations – on the FamilyWorks website
Please consider supporting our area food banks in their efforts to combat hunger and serve the most vulnerable of our neighbors.
