This year, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will hold its (mostly) annual Rummage Sale on May 3rd & 4th, from 9a – 4p, at The Powerhouse. This fun fundraiser turns donated, ahem, treasures into cash thanks to the generosity of all of us. Give goods this week and next, and then shop the rummaged items donated by others at the sale, with all proceeds going to fund the annual spectacular of the Solstice Parade (coming June 21st.)
As you do your spring cleaning, or look around the house at the neat stuff you no longer use, consider donating it to the Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit. As a volunteer-driven organization, the FAC depends on the generosity of the strangeness of our community – to give curiosities, treasures and practical pieces to be sold for the cause of the parade.
Drop-off clean, functional items at the Powerhouse:
- Today, Apr 21st: 6p-9p
- Thursday, Apr 24th: 5:30p – 6:30p
- Saturday, Apr 26th: Noon – 1p
- Monday, Apr 28th: 6p – 9p
- Tuesday, Apr 29th: 6p – 10p
- Wednesday, Apr 30th: 6p – 10p
- Friday, May 2nd: 7p – 10p
Some special arrangements can be made. Call 206/547-7440 to inquire.
Volunteers are needed, at least three or more people, for set-up and break down of the Rummage Sale. Meet people, including those already at work bringing together the 2014 Solstice Parade to reality, and help sort through (and price) this hopefully-not-too-motley collection of curios. Volunteers are also needed to help promote the Sale, including passing out flyers (pick some up during donation drop-off times,) and to make signs and mount them around the ‘hood the night before the sale. Volunteers will be needed during the sale to work with shoppers, keep items organized and keep other organizers company. Finally, volunteers will be needed after the sale, on May 4th, to pack up leftover items – and someone with a pick-up truck (or two) will be needed to haul leftovers to the thrift shop and/or dump.
To volunteer, contact Kudra Migliaccio, at 206/547-7440 or . Also find out more about the sale – and the need for funding the Solstice Parade through the FAC website, and the FAC Facebook page.
