On Saturday, May 11th, at 11a, the Fremont Historical Society will be at the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library, answering questions and sharing information on the ‘What The Fremont Bridge Has Seen.’
In addition to closures of lanes on Aurora Avenue south of the bridge, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced two more closures – of southbound lanes this weekend, and the northbound sidewalk from January 18th – September, 2016.
Hopefully you’ve had a chance to enjoy the sight of the new bright paint on parts of the Fremont Bridge. The contractor has been cleaning and covering the faded bridge with shiny blue-and-orange, on the north bascule/leaf. However, according to Art Brochet of the Seattle Department of Transportation, the work has been delayed occasionally by heavy rains, high winds, or just bad forecasts.
