Help Clean-Up, And Create Decorations For, The Fremont Troll

On Sunday, October 23rd, starting at Noon, the Fremont Troll will be given his annual bath – and you are needed to help make it happen. This year, with the Washington State Department of Transportation doing earthquake bracing on the pillars of the Aurora Bridge, the Troll will need more help than ever to make him shine for his birthday, on Oct. 31st.

Fremont’s new speakeasy (no password needed, but true Fremonsters can find their way to the door behind Roxy’s Diner) provides a great place to relax without the loud music and hectic atmosphere at the trendy hotspots.

Kvichak Awarded Contract For Building Local Harbor ‘Patrol 1’ Boat

In September 2011 Kvichak Marine Industries announced the award of a contract for a ‘Response Boat Medium – C’ by the Seattle Police Department Harbor Patrol. This boat will be sistership to a fleet of boats built by Kvichak for the U.S. Coast Guard, but adapted to serve the mission requirements of the Harbor Patrol. It will also be the 500th hull built by Kvichak in its 30 years of operation.

‘Stand Tall for Little People’ In October at Caffe Ladro

Throughout the month of October, Caffe Ladro’s 13 Puget Sound locations (including Fremont) will raise awareness – in conjunction with Seattle Children’s Hospital and Little People of America’s (L.P.A.) Puget Sound chapter – on dwarfism, also known as skeletal dysplasia. For National Dwarfism Awareness Month, Caffe Ladro has shrunk its distinctive ‘tall man’ logo on its cups.

Have An Ale & Fight Alzheimer’s Disease On Oct. 8th

On Saturday, October 8th, from 4p – 8p, the Alzheimer’s Association invites all good-hearted Fremonsters (and their drinking companions) to participate in the Ales For Alzheimer’s – Fremont Edition fundraiser. Ten Fremont pubs have agreed to participate in this effort to build awareness and reach out to those with loved ones who have been diagnosed, or died, from Alzheimer’s Diesease, or a related dementia.
