For eight years, J-Walt has been amazing audiences with his unique performances that blend music, theatre, visual art and technology. For four performances – on August 31st, September 2nd & 3rd – he will bring Spontaneous Fantasia to Seattle. His newest show, The Omnicentric Universe, will play in Fremont at West of Lenin.
The 2011 Fremont Outdoor Movies season closes, on Saturday, August 27th, with a crowd pleasing favorite – ‘The Big Lebowski’ – and a challenge issued to raise funds to aid Africa through Lumana.
On August 27th & 28th, the Northwest Lovefest music festival will take place at the foot of Stone Way, on the doorstep of Solsticio. The festival does feature games, vendors and plenty of information on enviro-friendly, and community-building programs and organizations – as well as art! On Friday, September 2nd, the Paul Frank ‘Academy of Awesome’ tour hits Fremont (Winnebago and all) and they need musicians! Along with games, exhibits and contests (plus, the Puppy Prom!) the show includes a stage to showcase the incredible talent among local musicians, who can win the chance at exposure to a nation-wide audience.
Save up your unwanted, gently worn clothes, shoes and accessories and trade-them-out for new-to-you treasures at the Clothes Swap this Saturday, August 27th, from 1p – 5p. In addition to recycling in the best way possible – re-use – this event also raises funds for the Fremont Arts Council!
In July, the Silence-Heart-Nest staff hosted Nimdoma Sherpa, of the Kingdom of Nepal. Nimdoma holds the record as the youngest woman ever to climb Mt. Everest. She climbed at age 16, celebrated her birthday on the mountain and summited at age 17. Now age 19, Nimdoma, the youngest woman ever to be on top of the world, has completed a mountain-climbing world tour including Mt. Rainier.
This Sunday, August 21st, from 2:30 – 4:30p, ukulele players can gather for the monthly Uke Jam at Dusty Strings (3406 Fremont Ave N,) hosted by Sunga Rose.
Well junior supernatural angst fans (and the adults who love them) the rescheduled screening of the movie ‘Twilight’ casually planned for Saturday, August 20th, 2011 at the Fremont Outdoor Movies has been officially cancelled.
