Farewell J.P. Patches – Chris Wedes

‘Bye-bye for now!’ On Sunday, July 22nd, Chris Wedes passed away at age 84. Wedes, who had battled cancer for years, was very well known to native Seattlites (and Fremonsters) as Julius Pierpont Patches – or J.P. Patches to the ‘Patches Pals’ that grew up watching his Emmy winning television program.

Demolition To Start On The Beleaguered Thunderbird Motel

On Friday, February 24th, Catholic Housing Services (CHS) will move closer to building a 71-unit affordable housing building. Abatement work has been underway, and should finish by the 24th. Once completed, it will be safe for contractors to demolish the structure of the once infamous Thunderbird Motel.

Help Clean-Up, And Create Decorations For, The Fremont Troll

On Sunday, October 23rd, starting at Noon, the Fremont Troll will be given his annual bath – and you are needed to help make it happen. This year, with the Washington State Department of Transportation doing earthquake bracing on the pillars of the Aurora Bridge, the Troll will need more help than ever to make him shine for his birthday, on Oct. 31st.

An Occasion to Celebrate the Aurora Bridge Barrier

This Saturday, September 24th, from 5p – 7p, join the Seattle F.R.I.E.N.D.S., as our community celebrates (and gives a huge, collective sigh of relief) over the installation of the safety barrier on the George Washington Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Aurora.) The party will take place at History House (790 N 34th St,) will include snacks and beverages donated by grateful Fremont businesses, and is free to attend.
