On Wednesday, July 17th, at 8:30a, at The Riveter Fremont, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ‘Fremont Makers & Maker Spaces’ panel discussion on small business, and how to make businesses at the Center of the Universe thrive!
This morning, on July 8th, at 1:30a, a fire was reported on the Glass Eye Studio campus near the Ship Canal. The Seattle Fire Department got the fire under control, with no injuries reported, by 3:30a.
On Friday, July 12th at 7p, Aurora Bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane, in both directions, so crews from Lakeside Industries can repave the north end of the southbound lanes.
On June 27th, workers from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) came and installed a bike rack and painted stripes on the street for bicycle parking on North 36th Street, at the end of Dayton Avenue North.
The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS,) in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities, is seeking emerging artists to develop temporary art works for display on construction walls and fences during work on the Ship Canal Water Quality Project.
The neighborhood of Fremont is represented by two City Council seats. Those who live west of Aurora Avenue (Highway 99) vote in District #6, and those voters to the east vote in District #4, along with residents in Wedgewood, Wallingford, Laurelhurst, U-District, and Ravenna.
On Sunday, May 26th, from 7a – 11a, the Emerald City Ride takes cyclists, including families and new riders, around the city. Presented by Kaiser Permanente, this 12-mile bike ride is open for up to 10,000 participants to travel around, including on routes not normally open to bicyclists, like the SR99 tunnel and the I-5 Express Lanes.

The tower crane at the development at the corner of N 36th St & Phinney Ave N is scheduled for removal – which will shut down N 36th St from Francis Ave N to Phinney Ave N. The closure will start at 5a on Saturday, and could continue until 9p on Sunday.
