At Dusty Strings Music School, in Fremont, musicians and music fans can learn nearly anything about playing and enjoying acoustic music of a variety of different genres. This weekend, November 7th & 8th, enjoy two one-day classes offer introductions on two different aspects of music and performance, all at Dusty Strings.
On Thursday, November 5th at 9p, enjoy a blend of throwback blues breakbeats and hip-hop jazz with the trio of Blades, Ciotti, Coe at Nectar Lounge.
On Sunday, October 11th, dust off, polish up and put on those Beatle boots to join Dusty Strings’ multi-instrumentalist Dan Kahane for a fun-filled acoustic romp. From 12:15p – 2:15p, join in a jam to Beatle’s favorites, in the style of country music.
This Friday, September 25th, at 8p, break out the skinny ties and black eyeliner to get your ‘80’s on! At Hale’s Palladium, ‘Party Out of Bounds’ to the cosmic sounds of Hot Lava (a B-52s tribute band,) and Jealous Dogs (Seattle’s only Pretenders tribute band.)
An open invitation has been issued by Northwest Folklife to musicians, dancers, community groups, artists, storytellers, and instructors, to become participants in the 45th annual folk arts festival, held over Memorial Day weekend, May 27th – 30th, 2016.
On Friday, September 25th, starting at 7:30p, at Dusty Strings Music Store, The Bushwick Book Club will present a concert inspired by ‘The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao’, a book by Junot Diaz.
On Thursday, September 17th, at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, Arc Iris will be performing genre-bending music that shifts between cabaret-infused jazz, orchestral sophistication, grimy outlaw country, and big-band exhilaration, all held together by delicate and whimsical harmonies.
