Send A Live Shakespeare Love Sonnet To Your Valentine!

Sound Theatre Company and GreenStage have joined forces to offer ‘Valentine Sonnets’ delivered directly to your beloved, between February 10th – 14th. For a donation that will support live theatre, an actor in Elizabethan costume will perform one of William Shakespeare’s immortal, romantic love sonnets to order for your special sweetie.

Fremont Historical Plaque Tour Now On-Line

Celebrate the history of Fremont – history of the settlement of the area in the late 1800s – through a series of plaques to be installed around the neighborhood. The first four have been installed, with more to come in 2012 to form a tour of the area, and information on the project can now be at www.fremonthistorytour.org.

Public Input Meetings On Improving Seattle Public Library Services

The Seattle Public Library (SPL) system will host three community meetings in January, 2012, on improving library services. The gatherings will focus on options for enhancing the collection of books and materials, increasing operating hours, upgrading computers and on-line services, and improving building maintenance. Strategies for stabilizing funding for the library system will also be reviewed.

The three community meetings will be held around the city, with the closest to Fremont being the only weekday evening meeting at the Ballard Branch Library, on Wednesday, January 18th, from 6p – 8p. Saturday meetings will be held on January 7th, from 10a – Noon, at the Central Library, and on January 14th, from Noon – 2p, at the Beacon Hill Branch Library.

Center For Wooden Boats Begins Clean Up On North Lake Union Site

This month the Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) took a huge leap forward in building a facility for the interactive maritime museum on North Lake Union. The signing of an interim lease with King County METRO Transit Division for a property near Gasworks Park will bring the North Lake Union Community Wharf within sight come spring 2012.

Raise Money for Solid Ground At The Outdoor Cinema With The CoHo Team

This Saturday, July 30th, the Fremont Outdoor Movies screening of The Princess Bride will be sponsored by the CoHo Team of Windermere Real Estate Agents who will match the gate donations – usually $5 – and give the money to Solid Ground, to support their work to end homelessness. The record donation from a past sponsored show was $10,000 – with your help, CoHo hopes to surpass that amount.

Opening Weekend for Music in the Sculpture Garden

This Sunday, June 5th, kicks-off the 7th season of the annual Music In The Sculpture Garden concert series at History House (790 N. 34th St). These FREE concerts, featuring some of the Puget Sound’s best acoustic musicians, will be held weekly from 2p – 4p, in the covered courtyard of History House.

Rotary Fundraisers On-Going & Upcoming!

The Rotary Club of Fremont members continue to sell raffle tickets to raise money for their many wonderful projects. For $30, take a chance to win a cruise to Alaska (makes a great gift!,) plus $600 cash. The raffle ticket drawing will be held Tuesday, June 14th at their weekly meeting. On Thursday, June 16th, from 5:30p – 7:30p, the Fremont Rotary will hold a benefit to eradicate malaria, at Fremont Studios. Tickets cost $20 per person (cash or check only,) with 100% of the tax-deductible donation going to buy mosquito nets for Zambia.
