Passing – Dic Selin, Community Volunteer & Fremont Friend

On August 17th, Fremont lost one of its stalwart volunteers, and a family lost a loving father, grandfather and husband. A. Richard (Dic) Selin (1934 – 2017) had a career at the Boeing Company, but he gave his heart and a lifetime of effort to his many volunteer activities helping build and enhance our community.

FAC Has Reasons To Celebrate! Join Them?

On Sunday, August 20th, from 4p – 8p, the Fremont Arts Council will hold a celebratory BBQ to honor the volunteers, participants, donors and advocates of the 2017 Fremont Solstice Parade. The FAC also has two public meetings coming up, for those who want to know more about this unique organization, and contribute your energy and enthusiasm.

FOUND: Personal Electronic Device Near Burke-Gilman Trail

Last week, in the week after the Fremont Street Fair, some Fremont residents found a personal electronic device near the Burke-Gilman Trail and Fremont Canal Park. They have turned in the device to Fremocentrist.com, in the hopes that readers might be able to reunite the owner with their possession.

Explore A Fremont Landmark: The Fremont Baptist Open House

On Saturday, June 3rd, from 11a – 4p, explore the Fremont Baptist Church building, from the sub-basement to the peaks of the pipe organ. In celebration of 125 years of Fremont Baptist, the landmark building will be opened to the public – and the public is invited to help build 125 hygiene kits for the less fortunate in our community.

At The Barrel Thief Enjoy A Benefit Upsidedown Wine Tasting

The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar is hosting a meet-and-greet, and wine tasting, with Seth Kitzke of Upsidedown Wine, on Wednesday, May 31st, at 6p. Besides sampling great wine, and learning more about Upsidedown, 20% of proceeds from the sale of each of the five wines to be sampled will be given to four specific non-profits.

Volunteers Needed for Fremont Street Fair Celebration

Over the summer solstice weekend, June 17th & 18th, Fremont will host its annual celebration of our community and art with our sunny Street Fair. This official kick-off to summer, and acknowledgement of the awesomeness of the Center of the Universe, needs volunteers to make it happen!

Fremont Non-Profits Ask Everyone To Consider GiveBIG On May 10th

Next Wednesday, on May 10th, from midnight to midnight, the Seattle Foundation will host its annual Day of Philanthropy, where our on-line donations to area non-profits can be stretched through strategic corporate matches. This year, early-bird pledges can be accepted for GiveBIG in advance of May 10th, with the donation to be processed on that day.
