Have An Ale & Fight Alzheimer’s Disease On Oct. 8th

On Saturday, October 8th, from 4p – 8p, the Alzheimer’s Association invites all good-hearted Fremonsters (and their drinking companions) to participate in the Ales For Alzheimer’s – Fremont Edition fundraiser. Ten Fremont pubs have agreed to participate in this effort to build awareness and reach out to those with loved ones who have been diagnosed, or died, from Alzheimer’s Diesease, or a related dementia.

Volunteers Needed For B.F. Day After School Tutoring

Want to have a visible impact on the life of a child, after giving only a few hours a week? B.F. Day Elementary School needs volunteers to meet with elementary students twice a week to give basic assistance with writing, math, and reading. After school tutoring requires no real special skills, beyond a willingness to help and the time to give. After school sessions are on Tuesdays & Thursdays, October 18th to April 5th (holidays off!) from 3p – 4:15p.

However, the festival depends upon the generosity of a huge cadre of volunteers – including you! Particularly on Saturday evening, September 24th, for the 7p – close (11:45p) shift. Fremont Oktoberfest needs pour-ers to get the beer out and keep the festival from having to shut down early.

Lovefest This Weekend!

On August 27th & 28th, the Northwest Lovefest music festival will take place at the foot of Stone Way, on the doorstep of Solsticio. The festival does feature games, vendors and plenty of information on enviro-friendly, and community-building programs and organizations – as well as art! Ultimately, though, it is a musical festival with a great line-up of locally based, or locally-affiliated, musicians. Check out the line-up…
