Early Morning Vehicular Assault on 36th Street

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD) blotter, by Detective Renee Witt, at approximately 2a on Saturday, December 10th, a man in his 20s drove his vehicle into a crowd of six people, near Phinney Avenue North and North 36th Street.

New York City Police Contracts With Kvichak For Two More Vessels

In mid- November, Kvichak Marine Industries announced a contract to build two more of their Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) vessels for the New York City Police Harbor Unit (NYPD.) The first of the vessels is scheduled for delivery in April 2012, and the second in August 2012. Kvicak has already delivered one RB-M C to the NYPD, in May 2010.

National Television/Radio Emergency Alert on November 9th

Please help spread the word that on Wednesday, November 9th at 11a (2p E.S.T.) a nationwide test of the emergency alert system (EAS) will be conducted. More than 20,000 television and radio broadcast stations across the United States will participate in this first-ever, nationwide, 30-second test.

Kvichak Awarded Contract For Building Local Harbor ‘Patrol 1’ Boat

In September 2011 Kvichak Marine Industries announced the award of a contract for a ‘Response Boat Medium – C’ by the Seattle Police Department Harbor Patrol. This boat will be sistership to a fleet of boats built by Kvichak for the U.S. Coast Guard, but adapted to serve the mission requirements of the Harbor Patrol. It will also be the 500th hull built by Kvichak in its 30 years of operation.

An Occasion to Celebrate the Aurora Bridge Barrier

This Saturday, September 24th, from 5p – 7p, join the Seattle F.R.I.E.N.D.S., as our community celebrates (and gives a huge, collective sigh of relief) over the installation of the safety barrier on the George Washington Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Aurora.) The party will take place at History House (790 N 34th St,) will include snacks and beverages donated by grateful Fremont businesses, and is free to attend.

Painting Party Scheduled for Bridge Way Mural

Volunteers are needed for a painting party scheduled for THIS SATURDAY, August 13th, from 10a – 2p, to remove graffiti from the beleaguered Bridge Way Mural. At 10a, volunteers can meet at the Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Avenue North) to help carry paint and supplies up to the mural. At the mural, volunteers will be needed all day to wield a paintbrush, cleaning supplies, and doing some landscaping at the mural along Bridge Way under Aurora Avenue.

King County To Perform Maintenance Work On The Fremont Siphon

Beginning the week of July 18th, as part of the Fremont Siphon Sewer Project, crews from King County will do maintenance work on the both the Queen Anne and Fremont access points. In Fremont, intermittent work will occur near 2nd Avenue NW and NW Canal Street, with heavy equipment, noise, dust and odor expected.
