According to the Seattle Police Department On-Line Blotter, on September 24, 2015 a multi-casualty traffic accident on the Highway 99/George Washington Memorial Bridge, a.k.a. Aurora Bridge, required massive response from emergency teams, including Seattle Fire, the Shoreline Fire Department, and Medics, and snarled traffic throughout Fremont.

On Monday, August 10th, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) began a two-year process for repainting the 84-year-old State Route 99 George Washington Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Aurora Bridge.)
This fall, the State of Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will do its eighth annual three-day survey of bicyclists and pedestrians. Volunteers counted over 72,000 cyclists and walkers in 2014, and about 400 volunteers will be needed again this year – registration starts now for those able to help.
