This weekend, June 22nd & 23rd, the place for fun and festivities is at the Fremont Street Fair – and it is a great time to take the bus to the Center of the Universe!
While transit service will be affected, with a few routes taking detours during the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade (from Noon – 5p,) METRO is a great way to get here – and get back home again! Parking can be difficult, and often requires leaving your car at a great distance. However, if you must park, please avoid blocking drive-ways and pedestrian access.
METRO does have a few tools for finding out about routes. Text your stop ID to 62550 to find out the next scheduled, or predicted, departure time of transit at that stop. Also, sign up for Transit Alerts to find out about activities in the area. Check the online Service Advisories page before traveling, in order to know if there are known service disruptions or reroutes that might affect your travel plans.
Also, remember that the Seattle Mariners will be attempting to recover our dreams of greatness with Home Games on Friday, June 21st at 7p, and on Saturday and Sunday at 1p. This could further cause traffic tie-ups this weekend.
Of course, you can also ride your bicycle to Fremont, to enjoy the Fremont Fair, the live music there and at Gas Works Park and around the ‘hood, the Sunday Dog Parade at 2:30p, and the singular show of the Seattle Art Cars all weekend long! Best of all, cycling to Fremont will build up an appetite – and we’ve got a gourmands dream going on here this weekend, with the food vendors at the Fair, and dining specials at most of our brick-and-mortar restaurants (including several new ones!)
This is the weekend to stop by the Center of the Universe! Do not miss out!
