On Wednesday, January 15th, at 7p, the Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar will hold the Annual Rye Tasting. Bourbon is all the rage, but its edgier cousin rye offers a unique perspective on American whiskey. Rye is typically more rustic, fruitier, spicier, and less sweet than bourbon – and works well in crafting cocktails, where rye works to balance out the sweetness of liqueurs.
The Annual Rye Tasting will feature ¼-oz. tastes of ten ryes, including some classics, local, highly allocated, nicely aged, and eclectic. The event will also give a history of rye, education on the distilling process, and instruction on how it can be used in classic cocktails (including recipes.)
The Annual Rye Tasting costs $20 to attend, with attendance limited to 20 participants. Register to attend at Brown Paper Tickets. For more information, visit The Barrel Thief in person, or on-line.
