The Fabulous, Free and Fetching Fremont First Friday Art Walk Strides Forth September 2nd

This work, 'Bicycle Factory', by Lisa Reynolds will be on display at Hub And Bespoke in September 2011

Labor Day weekend might turn thoughts to Bumbershoot or Burning Man, but this year, seriously, think about how it is the First Friday of the month, on September 2nd, and from 6p – 9p it will be the Fremont Art Walk!

Check out incredible art from venues including Evo TimesInfinity Gallery which has the 4FRNT Project – a collection of rider inspired art by Max Neutra, Yale Wolf, Harry Lau, Greg Lipp, and others.  Frame-Up Studios has original linoleum block prints and posters by Olympia artist Mimi Williams.  Portage Bay Goods features watercolor portraiture by Allie Fraley.  At Hub And Bespoke, cyclist Lisa Reynolds shows sites she’s seen from the seat of a bike in her ink and encaustic paintings.  At Fremont Jewelry Design, check out the vivid, surrealist acrylic and ink paintings and drawings of Don Farrell.

This photograph, by Seth Laster, is one of a collection of dramatic images on display at Brown Paper Ticket's Treehouse office in Fremont.

At Urban Earth nursery, enjoy the fused glass sculptures of Dorothy Wayne along with audio art, with a classical guitar performance Teresa Jaworski.  Brown Paper Tickets has dramatic photography and illustrations by Seth Laster, and live music by Tim Scallon.   509 Winery & Tasting Room will feature pre-WWII style jazz by Casey McGill & The Blue 4 Trio, while out in the parking lot the mobile food truck, Skillet, will sell delicious dishes to go with the wonderful wine for purchase inside.  Pel’meni Dumpling Tzar combines the photography of Nick Gonzales – “we have to be willing to look deeper for meaning because many situations are not as simple as we think,” from his artist’s statement – with their delicious Russian snack.  Get $1 off the purchase of dumplings by giving the secret phrase, “Make art, not war.”

For those who missed the incredible August Art Walk, Art F/X Gallery has held over the show of Ann Maki and her textile sculptures.  Fremont Brewing Co continues to show the strong figurative paintings of Fiona McGuigan – as well as continuing to serve their most excellent crafted organic beer.  And, over their delicious pies, Kylie’s Chicago Pizza displays the acrylic paintings of Cait Willis.

Check out the 'Academy of Awesome' when it sets up on the parking lot at N 35th St & Phinney Ave N on Sep 2, 2011 during the FFF Art Walk! Photo provided by Paul Frank

To top it all – and set the September First Friday Art Walk in the annals of legendary entertainment – the Fremont Chamber of Commerce welcomes Paul Frank’s Academy of Awesome tour to the parking lot at North 35th Street and Phinney Avenue North.  The signature Winnebago will bring a wealth of wondrously wacky entertainments – all for free!

Check out the retrospective exhibit, the Creation Station, a battle of the bands, silk-screening, Ping-Pong, interactive music stations, and the Puppy Prom!  All on Fremont’s favorite parking lot – for Fremont’s favorite price, FREE!
