Check out this unique, intense theatrical experience in the intimate setting of West of Lenin

Starting this week, with a preview show on March 11th, Macha Theatre Presents ‘The Fifth Wave’ at West of Lenin.  March 13th – 28th, are you ready for ‘The Fifth Wave’ and this unique, intense theatrical experience?

This new play, written by Jenn Ruzumna and Lisa Every, explores the eruption of a quiet college campus in the aftermath of an alleged sexual assault.  ‘The Fifth Wave’ looks to the future and how feminism is evolving.  As different generations of women struggle to understand each other in these troubling times, can we find a way to work together and find a common goal?  Can our rage be fuel for change?

The Premiere of this new play is coming to West of Lenin theatre in Fremont, in mid-March 2020

Directed by Amy Poisson, this play is set following a vicious attack when a young woman, Maxx (played by Mari Nelson,) emerges as a feminist icon and change-maker for her generation.  Decades of relative peace and calm follow for Maxx as she turns her focus to family and a career as a highly-regarded professor.  When a young man is accused of an assault on campus, and finds an ally in Maxx’s daughter, the world Maxx knows begins to unravel and she must confront the demons of her past while trying to protect her present life.

Get tickets on-line through the Macha Theatre website (click here,) for seats in the intimate West of Lenin theatre (which seats only 88 people.)  ‘The Fifth Wave’ is recommended for ages 14 and up as it includes adult language and conversations about violence against women.  In order to ensure the safety of the audience, and the cast, sanitizing measures have been implemented throughout WofL – and patrons are urged to stay home if they feel unwell or are in a high-risk category for COVID-19.  If you are unable to attend a show for which you have purchased tickets, please contact the producers at tickets@machatheatreworks.com
