On Thursday, August 9th, at Nectar Lounge, the hot Peruvian band, Novalima, will perform, during a brief stop on its world-wide tour. Tickets are still available to see this Grammy-nominated band, while they are here!
Novalima is revered for breaking boundaries and uniting seemingly irreconcilable genres, communities and generations. In their native Peru, Novalima has revolutionized the music scene by bridging a longstanding divide between the mainstream and the minority Afro-Peruvian community who have struggled with discrimination and cultural dissolution for generations.
Currently, Novalima is touring in celebration of 15 years of making amazing music, as well as support for their upcoming album – Ch’usay. Released on Wonderwheel Recordings, the album’s name means ‘internal voyage’ in Quechua, an indigenous language of the people descended from the Incas and living mostly in the South American altiplano. Due to be released on September 14th, Ch’usay signals Novalima’s latest musical exploration, using ancient sounds and instruments from the Andes and Amazon regions. It also features collaborations between Novalima and other global artists including Colombian Marimba master Esteban Copete and Cuban rapper Kumar.
Purchase tickets now, while they remain available, to hear Novalima live at Nectar on August 9th. Tickets cost $18 in advance, and can be purchased through EventBrite, or the Nectar Lounge website. This show is 21+ only.
