During their tour of the U.S., The Secret Sisters will make a one-night-only stop at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center on June 2ndHannah Miller will open for the duo of Laura & Lydia Rogers as The Secret Sisters perform works from their first two albums, and their latest ‘You Don’t Own Me Anymore’, coming out on June 9th.

Produced by Brandi Carlile and her collaborators Tim & Phil Hanseroth, ‘You Don’t Own Me Anymore’ is a 12-song set due out soon digitally, on compact disc and vinyl.  This is the first album by The Secret Sisters in over three years.  The duo, originally from Florence, Alabama, landed their first major label deal in 2009, touring and sharing stages with some of the biggest acts in music.  However, after release of their sophomore effort, ‘Put Your Needle Down,’ the girls were dropped from their label and soon found themselves back home, cleaning houses and occasionally performing.  Until Carlile, someone whom The Secret Sisters have admired for years, offered to produce their next album.  They then launched a PledgeMusic campaign, and exceeded their goal with nearly 1,500 fans coming forward, and were signed to New West Records.

Now Paste Magazine has premiered, on its website (click here,) the video for ‘He’s Fine’, one of the highlights of the new album.  The video shows the Rogers sisters recording the album with Carlile at Bear Creek Studio, here in Woodinville, WA.  Paste Magazine described the track, “catchy as hell; a foot-stomping folk-pop singalong that marks a clear progression from their sound before…”  NPR Music has also premiered the video (click here to see it) of the album opener ‘Tennessee River Runs Low,’ featuring acclaimed Alabama artist Butch Anthony.  NPR called the album, “a set of songs both reflective of tradition and deeply personal.”

With ‘You Don’t Own Me Anymore’, The Secret Sisters found themselves in a more creative and honest space than ever, with their experiences flowing and morphing into collective tales of triumph, rage and indefatigable human spirit.  The songs describe journeys as poetic as they are confessional, always anchored by the timeless, crystalline ring of Laura and Lydia’s voices in sweet unison.  The Secret Sisters have found themselves taking their music to new places, with soulful, gospel grooves and stirring performances that never seek perfection over power.

See, and hear, this remarkable vocal duo at the Fremont Abbey on June 2nd.  The show begins at 8p, with doors opening at 7p, and all ages welcome.  Tickets can be purchased in advance, through EventBrite, for $15 per person ($13 students,) or $18 day of show.  Learn more about The Secret Sisters on their official website, or through the New West Records site.
