This weekend would, in the normal course of things, be the central celebration for a month of Fremont excitement and enrichment with the Fremont Street Fair, the Fremont Fun Run & Briefcase Relay, Picnic In The Park, the Fremont Sunday Market, Seattle Art Car BlowOut, etc. In 2020, COVID-19 concerns and precautions have cancelled much of this merriment – but not all!
On Saturday, June 20th at 1p, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will launch a Virtual Event, hosted by Peter Toms, Harper and Scarlet Parke, and featuring the art, imagination and amazing feats of over 60 ensembles. Video submitted by artists and FAC supporters, following the theme of ‘Past, Present & Future’, has been curated by FAC members and assembled by the local events and immersive experiences company The Production Network.
This melding of historical archives, of over 30 years of FAC events and Solstice Parades, with personal testimonials, art installations and ensemble performances will capture the spirit and spectacle of the unmatched Fremont Solstice Parade – and take it to the viewers in the form of a Virtual Video available for viewing on any laptop, SmartPhone, or tablet.
Perhaps most importantly, the Virtual Fremont Solstice Parade will feature Cheer Seattle and the Green Hat Go Getters, reminding viewers of the importance of giving to the FAC to make it possible for their volunteers and visitors to create a Fremont Solstice Parade for 2021! Please donate to the Fremont Arts Council, either before, during or after the Fremont Solstice Parade, on the FAC website (click here.)
View the kaleidoscope of joyous human expression that is the Fremont Solstice Parade, to celebrate art and Fremont! The 2020 COVID-19-inspired virtual event can be seen on the FAC Facebook page (click here,) or using the FAC YouTube Channel (click here.) Don’t forget – it’s vitally important that everyone who watches, and enjoys, the Fremont Solstice Parade is asked to consider contributing a financial donation – and the FAC web page can make that easy (click here!)
