This weekend, on Saturday, November 8th, in North Bend, the Washington/Alaska Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (headquartered in Fremont,) will host the 9th Annual Winter Pineapple Classic 5K to raise money to fight blood cancers including myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease, lymphoma, and leukemia.

This Hawaiian-themed 5K run features exciting obstacles with teams assisting one another through the course (while carrying a pineapple!)  Afterwards, participants will be rewarded for the effort with a luau, more food, drinks and beer from the Kauai Family Restaurant and Georgetown Brewing.

All proceeds raised by runners, from generous donors, will go directly to the efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Since its inception, the Winter Pineapple Classic has raise more than $2.6 million for research, education and support services for patients and their families.

Runners will have fun, get dirty and help support the fight against blood cancers, led by the 2014 Honoree Fremonster Bailey Stenson – a cancer survivor!  Find out more information on the Winter Pineapple Classic website, and donate what you can to help create more survivors.
