This Friday, Fun Run!

Come fun run in Fremont this Friday, June 8th Photo by K. Lindsay, Jun '11

On Friday, June 8th, Fremont will invite racers to run – along with those who just want an excuse to run in costume, and/or with friends/co-workers.  The Fremont Fun Run 5K, and Briefcase Relay, will take place on North 34th Street from Fremont Avenue east nearly to I-5 Ship Canal Bridge.

If you need to drive, or bike, ‘round the hood, avoid the area, or park and stop by to enjoy the merriment – and the costumes!

Kick off the start of summer on the evening of June 8th, with an entertaining celebration of exercise and fun.

Run or walk the certified, fast 5K course, and/or put together a five-person team for the costumed Briefcase Relay – and give local teams from Produxs, Fremont Oktoberfest, PCC Natural Markets, and Google a challenge!

Visit vendor booths, and bring some non-perishable food to donate to the FamilyWorks food bank – and learn more at the booths of several area non-profits including Solid Ground.  Also, enjoy post-race festivities (open even to those who don’t, technically, run the race) in the Fremont Brewing Company beer garden.

Make sure you are on hand at 6:45p when the staff from the Fremont Anytime Fitness will lead the runners and walkers in a 5K warm-up.

Registration remains open until just before race time (6p for Briefcase Relay/7p for 5K.)  Come on down to Solstice Plaza and start the Official Month of Fremont (a.k.a. June) with a run that is always fun – it’s in the name, after all!
