On Monday, December 21st, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will once again host their annual, art-filled celebration of the longest night of the year, with a potluck, music, and ritual – and, most important of all, the supportive, caring arts community gathered together. The Feast of the Winter Solstice is a visual and sensory experience unlike anything else done at this time of the year, a family-friendly entertainment for all, until 11p when it transforms into a grown-up DJ-ed dance party.
Public tickets are available, for $30 apiece, through Brown Paper Tickets. The 26th Annual Winter Solstice Feast will be held this year in a large space in Georgetown, in the Equinox art studios (6520 – 5th Ave S,) decorated by FAC artists and volunteers. The magical evening opens at 6p, with breaking of the specialty six-foot-loaf of bread provided by Essential Bakery at 7p, and the timing of the solstice at 8:49p. After feasting, performance art, dancing, kids activites and contemplation (in the elaborate tea-room) carry-on. The party continues until 2a.
Dress in your formal, colorful, costumed or comfortable clothing, grab your complimentary, hand-made headdress on your way in (first-come, first-chosen,) and place your dish of appetizer, entrée or dessert on the trestle tables – and join the celebration of the Winter Solstice.
