The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will once again host its Feast of the Winter Solstice – the beautiful, bountiful and artistically intense celebration of the longest night of the year – on Saturday, December 20th. The Feast, and its attendant ceremonies, will be followed again this year by a hot dance party.
The 26th Annual Feast, a potluck to make our mouths water, gathers together the FAC community – and others who enjoy music, art and ceremony – for an evening of outrageous costumes, artful headdresses, interactive art installations, and musical entertainment. The Great Hall will be set with community-tables as the hundreds of special guests gather to break the 6-foot Challah loaves and dine on shared meals. Join in toasts, to the year past and the year to come, and the Solstice Ritual, to say farewell and welcome. Then, enjoy music by the 9-piece funk band Marmalade, DJ Michael Manahan, and DJ Diem as the evening flows into amazing gyrations to most excellent sound.
Tickets to the FAC Feast of the Winter Solstice this year will be $35, which includes an automatic membership to the organization (a $25 value,) and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets. Get tickets for the whole family (children under 16 years old get in without a ticket,) dress in your most splendid, extravagant, sexiest, and warmest winter wear, bring along your most delectable dish (with plates, cutlery and B.Y.O.B.) and FEAST with the FAC!
