Update From Fremont’s Doric Lodge

On April 7th, Doric Lodge #92 – the Masonic Lodge located in Fremont since 1893 – hosted a community potluck, and dance.  Attendees were encouraged to bring a donation to the Fremont food bank at FamilyWorks – and 379 pounds of food were collected and delivered!

More recently, Fremont landmark business, Deluxe Junk, has begun liquidation of its vast selection of vintage, antiques and ephemera as it moves from its long-term retail space beneath the Lodge.  For 34 years, Deluxe Junk has leased from the Doric Lodge, and recently lease negotiations took a nasty turn.

As of April 23rd, the shop’s Facebook page states that the store will close, and things have progressed to an amicable place.  A letter sent to the retailer by the lawyer for the Doric Lodge was posted in the Lodge window at 619 N 36th St, to give the organization’s response to some charges leveled at them, as is a statement on the Lodge website.

For most Fremonsters, what this means is some great bargains to be found at Deluxe Junk this weekend – the store is open on Friday & Saturday – and more community gatherings in the future at the Lodge.  Enjoy!
