The Urban Earth Nursery has two very interesting and unusual classes coming up, to teach attendees how to make terrariums and living ornaments.
On Sunday, November 24th, from Noon – 2p, the terrarium workshop will guide you on how to make your own miniature eco-system in the glass container of your choice. Bring your own creative container, or purchase one of many offered in the Urban Earth shop. All soil and substrate, decorative rocks and baubles, and, of course, plants will be provided as part of the class fee of $35. Learn about terrariums, and how to create a healthy, thriving plant world for yourself or as a gift. During class, friends from GT’s Kombucha will serve up samples of their newest brews for those interested in trying these unusual and popular beverages, alongside other snacks and drinks. On Wednesday, December 4th, from 6p – 8p, learn to make Living Ornaments, while enjoying winter botanical cocktails. This is a fresh twist on holiday decorating, and making something that can be enjoyed well beyond the season. Living Ornaments can be hung on a Christmas Tree, or enjoyed as a decorative, living touch by those who celebrate other holidays during the winter. In addition to the workshop, which costs $35, seasonal cocktails will be served up featuring the herbs and botanical flavors of this season. Click here to register.
Even if you cannot take the time to attend one of these workshops, stop by Urban Earth at 1051 N 35th St to check out the collection of plants and gifts available to satisfy friends and family seeking something to love this holiday season.
