The Urban Earth Nursery has more classes scheduled, for those looking to expand their gardening skills – and to spend time with knowledgeable locals willing to share some insights. Urban Earth has also created more opportunities for plants, particularly for those concerned about the origins of their foliage.
Urban Earth has upcoming classes, held in-person, in very small groups, on:
- August 13th – from 6p – 7p – Identifying Pests & Diseases
Get to know common insect pests, and the associated plant damage they can cause. Find out what to do about the pests, in both the outdoor garden and on houseplants. Bring a notebook and pen to take notes – and a hand-lens, for better identifying the pests, if you wish. The class cost is $30 per person. Click here to register (space is limited!)
- August 26th, from 6p – 7p – Herbal Cocktail Class
Enjoy herb-infused cocktails in the garden! Whether you like spicy or sweet, let the Urban Earth experts show you how you can incorporate fresh herbs into your favorite summer drink. This 21+ event costs $40, and includes two herb-infused drinks, per person, your herb of choice to take home, plus mixology tips and tricks. - August 27th, from 4p – 6p – Potting Happy Hour
Avoid getting dirt all over your apartment or house, and learn to blend the perfect soil for your favorite plant. Get assistance re-potting delicate plants, or potting a large one. In addition to offering expert service, Urban Earth now has its own greenhouse, growing healthy houseplants available for purchase at the Fremont nursery. This is part of the mission of Urban Earth – to provide plants grown with love and care, and ready to take home for your enjoyment. Houseplants are now available from the greenhouse, with more to come.
