Also consider looking at the ‘Funky Wines’ on the Vif website (click here,) if you want something really unusual. The wine aficionados at Vif have had so many requests for Funky Wines that they’ve created their own page, although they know that not everyone is a fan (some do find them vile.) A ‘Funky Wine’ is one that may start out tasting pretty, and then takes a turn with untamed notes – sometimes the funk is on the nose, other times it’s on the palate, and occasionally it’s on the exhale. Of course, wines that fit the ‘Funky’ category can be challenging and adventurous – if you want to try one, and walk on the wild side, know that they cannot be returned, but enjoy the ride.
