Vif Offers A ‘Vegan Vampire Wine’ This Week

Each week, Vif Wine|Coffee offers up a fine, natural wine as an example of the best of their incredible collection.  This week, Vif and its sister store, Petite Soif, are featuring what they jokingly call a ‘Vegan Vampire Wine’ – a 2019 Domaine Guion ‘Cuvee Domaine’ from Bourgueil, France for $21.

Described as ‘medium bodied with modest tannins’, this cabernet is made from a dark, lush fruit tamed by a charming high-toned minerality.  The wine pairs well with charred root vegetables, roasted onions, dark, leavy greens and duck or steak made with a berry gastrique.  From the Loire Valley of France, the grapes are grown in clay and limestone soil in a vineyard that has been certified organic since 1965.

This 2019 Domaine Guion is aged in a large cave shared by a handful of families.  This historic cave in France once served as a Resistance hideout during World War II.  Purchase this natural wine, or one of the many others imported by Vif, in the café at 4401 Fremont Ave N in Upper Fremont – or at Petite Soif, on Beacon Hill, at 3309A Beacon Ave S.  Find out more on the VifSeattle.com website.
