On June 20th, at 3p, the 27th Annual Solstice Parade, as produced by the Fremont Arts Council (FAC), takes to the streets of our fun and festive community. This outrageous spectacle requires hundreds of volunteers to create – and two particular volunteer positions are absolutely vital. Can you consider helping, and recruiting friends to help as well?
Parade Monitors provide the backbone of the parade – they keep the patrons safely out of the parade path, and help ensembles and floats steer around obstructions and stay on pace. Monitors are needed on the day of parade from 1p – 6p, and will receive a parade t-shirt and food vouchers to be used at the Solstice Celebration at Gas Works Park after the parade. More importantly, Monitors will have the absolute best view of the parade.
The Green Hat Crew provides the fuel of the parade – they collect donations from the watching crowds. The Green Hatters dress up, dance, and gather up green from grateful gawkers. This money makes the Solstice Parade possible. Without it, the 27th could be the last.
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the FAC welcomes all volunteers – of all ages, interests and enthusiasms – and can provide community service hours. If you, and anyone you know, is interested in volunteering – contact the FAC Volunteer Coordinator Cheyanne Warren at parade@fremontartscouncil.org
