Thank you to everyone who voted through Fremocentrist.com for Fremont’s Best of 2013!  Votes have been tallied, and awards created for winners of these special honors.  While two awards remain to be distributed, Fremocentrist.com readers have selected:

For Fremont’s Best Business 2013

Café Turko

Established by the owners of the former Fremont shop Istanbul Imports, on the same site, this small, extremely authentic Turkish eatery has taken diners firmly by their taste buds.

For Fremont’s Best Resident 2013

Lake Union Houseboats

While this award is intended to honor a great resident, voters spoke and selected all the owners/dwellers of iconic Lake Union houseboats.  The Seattle citizens who have had to battle City of Seattle bureaucracy for a few years in order to be able to retain the right to live on Fremont’s shoreline, in their homes.  I’d say, on behalf of Fremocentrist.com voters, keep up the good work!

The members of the Lake Union Liveaboard Association have been selected as recipients on behalf of all Lake Union Houseboat owners/dwellers.

For Fremont’s Best Organization/Project 2013

Doric Lodge #92

In 2012, Fremocentrist.com readers selected a project for this category – the B.F. Day Playground Improvements.  For 2013, readers selected an organization, without explanations.  It could be the generosity the Masonic Temple has shown in hosting local events, or the great projects – MLK Day, Bikes For Books, etc. – that the Masons have done for our area.  It really could be anything!

To all the winners, CONGRATULATIONS!  To all the voters, thank you!  For those already considering who deserves acknowledgement for their hard work in 2014, voting opens November 15th.  Hope to hear from you then!
