On Friday, February 6th, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk goes philanthropic, at Frame-Up Studios, along with featuring a trunk show, art displays and an anniversary celebration, all going on ‘round the ‘hood from 6p – 9p!
This month’s Art Walk is well worth strolling out, and taking in, with nearly 15 venues participating. Featured venues include:
- Frame-Up – B.F. Day Elementary School students contributed all the art in this riveting new exhibit of unique, mixed-media works. The proceeds from art sales at this show, entitled ‘Mini Masterpieces: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’, will go to support our public school’s visual art department, and to enrich arts education in our community.
- Portage Bay Goods – ‘Tis the season of love, and a great time to look for gifts as sweet as honey or sour & snarky. While viewing the art of Stasia Burrington, a Texas-born, Montana-raised illustrator, check out the card sets and valentine multi-packs – along with valentine sweets – at Fremont’s ‘gift shop for the thoughtful procrastinator!’
- Pel’meni Dumpling Tzar – Celebrate the 4th Anniversary of our Russian dumpling diner with DJ music, birthday cake and Russian Propaganda posters. This display will launch a poster design contest among local artists to create propaganda for Dumpling Tzar for another art display in July. So come see their inspirations (and find yours?) with fun, festivities and a few adult beverages – and use the phrase ‘Make Art, Not War’ to get $1 off your dumpling order.
- Fremont Jewelry Design – In addition to a display of sweet portraits layered with hand-cut fabric patterns by Stasia Burrington, enjoy a trunk show of hand-fabricated jewelry by Grace Matsumoto, of Tiny Fat Bird. Balancing the cute and sophisticated, in Matsumoto’s jewelry, and the washy grey of Burrington’s portraits, FJD will have a show with plenty to inspire and thrill the eyes and spirit.
Make time to take in just a bit – or the whole of the spectacle – at this month’s FFF Art Walk! Check the Fremont First Friday Art Walk website for a complete list of venues and artist displays – and take a winter’s eve stroll through the Center of the Universe.
