Painters came and gave the Wallingford Community Senior Center a light and bright face lift, and all the WCSC staff have been working diligently to make the space safer and more welcoming! Carpets have been cleaned, and old materials removed, and the new Executive Director, Janet Nazy, is ready to see all the vaccinated seniors return!
Starting June 22nd, the WCSC will offer in person programs, although there will be no drop-in options for now – preregistration will be required. Right now, the Wallingford Senior Center is asking that seniors bring their vaccine card with them the first time they visit. Located in the Good Shepherd Center, the WCSC is for all of our elders, in Fremont, Tangle Town, and Green Lake. However, to participate in the in-person programs at WCSC, seniors are asked to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccine.
EnhanceFitness is returning on July 2nd, indoors, although through June 30th the WCSC is offering an outdoor exercise program on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10a in Meridian Playfield. A brand-new program for July & August will be Tap-Inspired Dance Class (no tap shoes are required,) on Tuesday afternoons at 3p. Other programs are returning to the WCSC – Computer Lab, Social Bridge, Puzzle Time, and Knitting Circle.
For those unable to visit, unvaccinated or just in need of social support – get a weekly phone call or video chat with a vetted senior companion. In time, the volunteers can transition to offer in-person visits. Ask about the Homage Senior Companions program at 425/265-2225.
