Welcome To The Day After The End Of The World!

Shop Fremont this holiday season, for gifts or for yourself! Photo by K. Lindsay, Nov '12

It is the day after the end of the world, and the official start of holiday week!  Why not come enjoy the holidays in Fremont?!

For last minute shoppers, Fremont is a godsend!  Within our small shopping district are dozens of creative stores selling unique, inexpensive and generally satisfying gifts.

For hand-crafted, artistic gifts that will guarantee a gasp of surprise, visit Show Pony, Essenza, Fremont Jewelry Design, Burnt Sugar, Art F/X Gallery, Theo Chocolate, Mischief Distillery, and Bitters Co.  Also unique, and likely to shock (if not awe,) are gifts from Portage Bay Goods and Not A Number.

For more standard fare, although no less creative and high-quality, visit evo and Hub And Bespoke.  Also check out Mishu for inexpensive, designer women’s clothing.  For pet lovers, try Petapoluza, and for gardeners, visit Urban Earth, Emerald City Gardens, Indoor Sun Shoppe, and Fleur de Lis.

Of course, Fremont also allows shoppers to stay green – by offering re-used items including vinyl at Jive Time Records, books at Ophelia’s, and vintage clothing at Atlas Clothing – newly located on the second floor of the Oddfellows Hall.  For vintage clothing lovers, also check out GiGi Retro Inspired Clothing.  For vintage anything lovers, try the Fremont Vintage Mall – for all your gifts!

Vintage furniture so nice no one will know it isn’t new can be found in Upper Fremont, at ten22home.  Upper Fremont offers a lot of great shopping opportunities – Book Larder, Eyes On Fremont, Video Isle, American Music, Marketime Foods – plus a chance to eat deliciously!

For while only a couple days remain to shop for others, a whole week remains to enjoy dining out – and Fremont remains a great place to dine well!  Costas Opa may be gone, but that just gives everyone a chance to explore the many other (40+) options.

Take time this week to go look at Fremont in a whole new way – and support out small, independent shops.  The world didn’t end – at least not for those of us here in Fremont (and at Fremocentrist.com) – so come explore the Center of the Universe over the holidays, and celebrate the start of the rest of our lives!
