It’s an unlikely combination. The ski and snowboard themed bar, Woodsky’s, is showing the science TV series, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey on its big screen every Sunday night, at 9p. Possibly more improbable is the event’s popularity. On a recent Sunday evening, between 40 and 50 people crowded in to watch astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson expound on the marvels of nature and scientific discoveries.
Referring to Tyson, the Woodsky’s bartender said, “Every week I fall in love with him a little more.” During commercial breaks, the bar assumes the usual racket of talking and clinking glasses. When Cosmos returns, however, the noise level drops and attention returns to the screen.
If you like your science with beer and an enthusiastic crowd, it’s happening every Sunday night at 9 p.m. until the series ends.
