This Saturday, May 21st, two work parties will take place in Fremont – near in location but very different in what needs doing. However, both need warm bodies, and willing hands, to get the work accomplished.
Starting at 10a, green thumbs in need of flexing can help pull weeds and generally beautify the grounds surrounding History House (790 N 34th St, at Troll Ave N.) and the Sculpture Garden. The already established flower beds need weeding, and general clean up – even a half hour would make a huge difference. Snacks and drinks will be provided, but volunteers might want to bring along their preferred gardening tools to work with. To make sure enough snacks will be available, please R.S.V.P. to paul@historyhouse.org
From 9a – Noon, those who want to aggressively battle blackberry shoots, and pick up trash, while scowling back at Fremont’s favorite curmudgeon, are needed at the Troll’s Knoll, at North 36th Street & Troll Ave North. Some tools will be provided, but bringing gloves and yard waste bags would be a good idea. The Friends of the Troll’s Knoll also request to hear from neighbors who can donate space in their residential yard waste bins for disposing of clean green. For more information, go to the Facebook page.
As June looms, with its expected influx of visitors, it is time to make the ‘hood handsome. Plus, a little work by Fremonsters on a Saturday morning leaves the rest of the day for relaxing and basking in some well-deserved, smug self-satisfaction. Come out and join the efforts!
