Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!
On January 6th, Seattle Parks & Recreation will begin construction on the Woodland Park Play area at 1000 N. 59th St. Unfortunately, the construction will require the play area to be closed to the public until work is complete, possibly in April 2014.
On January 7th, at 7p, The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar will host a workshop on how to make maraschino cherries at home.
This Friday, January 3rd, from 6p – 9p, take a tour of Fremont by its art works. The First Friday Art Walk has a vast variety of venues showing an amazing selection of art.
On Monday, January 6th, at 6:30p, the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library will welcome three local poets – Jessica Gigot, Ann Batchelor Hursey and Sigrun Susan Lane – for the enjoyment of all.

Starting in January of 2014, the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation will pilot a variety of recreation programming geared to persons who live with memory loss, and their care partners.
Applications are due February 3rd for the 2014 Neighborhood Park & Street Fund, a program of the City of Seattle for getting park and street improvements in Fremont.
For the Saturday, January 25th Fremont Fireside Chat, at 3p at History House, attendees can witness an intimate interview that attempts to answer the question, ‘What about The Burkes?’
Over the next two weekends (December 28th & 29th, and January 4th & 5th) the Fremont Players will conclude their run, at Hale’s Palladium, of their new British Panto ‘Dick Whittington And His Cat’.
