Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. Last Monday, October 28th, the Seattle Department Of Transportation held an open house at B.F. Day Elementary School – and the people packed in to learn more about this planned project to build a dedicated lane for cyclists on Westlake Avenue.
On Sunday, November 3rd, at 2a, clocks in Washington State (and over most of the United States of America) will be set back one hour – to mark the end of Daylight Saving Time.

On Sunday, November 10th, Fremont will host an exciting new event – Tango Speed DatingTM – at The Barrel Thief for singles 35 to 50 years old. Organized by Tango teacher Gabriela Condrea, this gathering will allow singles to mingle their way through a number of games and moves that match them up with many different partners.
This Friday, November 1st, from 6p – 9p, take an Art Walk ‘round Fremont – exploring the varied venues and amazing artists that will participate in Fremont’s First Friday Art Walk. Now, the Fremont’s First Fridays have a new website, with more maps and directions about where to find art.
Bastyr University is conducting a research study, with participants who have type 2 diabetes, on a natural remedy to lower blood sugar.
On Saturday, November 2nd, from 11a – 1p, the City Of Seattle will re-dedicate Fire Station 9 after a complete rebuild, and the dedication of Fremont’s newest piece of public art – ‘Nine Lives’ by Peter Reiquam.
The City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture will form two artist rosters – one of approximately 75 established artists and one of approximately 40 emerging artists – pre-qualified for future art projects at City utility facilities, in parks, in the street right-of-way and other locations.
On Tuesday, October 8th, from 6:30p – 7:45p, the Fremont Library Book Group will discuss the book ‘A Palestine Affair’, by Jonathan Wilson. The book is available through the Seattle Public Library System, and will be due the night of the meeting. The Fremont Library Book Group meets monthly, on the second Tuesday, and is open to the public with a casual attendance policy.
