Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!
On Wednesday, October 24th, at 9a, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Fremont Neighborhood Council, will host a roundtable with representatives from the Seattle Police Department, at History House.
On Thursday, October 11th, 2012, the City of Seattle installed the first counter of bicycle traffic crossing the Fremont Bridge.
On October 31st, from 4p – 5p, Fremont will enjoy a special Fall phenomenon – a bubble-xtravaganza by Seattle’s own Bubbleman, Garry Golightly, at Red Triangle.
At the next Fremont Arts Council (FAC) Committee Of the Whole (COW) meeting, on Tuesday, October 9th starting at 7:10p-ish, Maque da Vis will give a half-hour presentation on the ‘History of Trolloween: 20 Years In the Making.’
On Wednesday, October 10th, from 7p – 9p, at the North Seattle Community College, join in on the ‘Safe Communities Conversation,’ hosted jointly by the Seattle Police Department and the Office of the Mayor.
Steel and concrete work has finished on the State Route 99 George Washington Memorial Bridge, a.k.a. the Aurora Bridge, and repairs to three specially designed expansion joints (see a photo on Flickr) has nearly done. All the current seismic repairs, begun in June 2011, has better prepared the structure in the event of an earthquake. Between Oct. 1st and Oct. 15th, 2012, crews will close lanes both day and night to chip out the expansion joints and add new bearings and new wedges underneath the joints.
All friends of History House of Greater Seattle are invited to come help clean the grounds and get the gardens ready for winter on Saturday, October 13th starting at 10a.
A second community meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd, from 7p – 9p, on the renovation of the Woodland Park play area. The Seattle Parks & Recreation will host a meeting at the Phinney Neighborhood Association in Room 1, inviting feedback on the schematic designs for the park.
The October 5th Fremont First Friday Art Walk offers the opportunity for admiring art all over the area, from 6p – 9p. This FREE event requires only one thing of attendees – to get out and walk it!
Yesterday, September 28th, the Office of Mayor Mike McGinn proposed legislation naming the one-block of North 34th Street, between Fremont Avenue and Troll Avenue, as J.P. Patches Place.
