Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!
On Friday, October 5th, starting at 6p, a celebration of the opening of the legendary Moulin Rouge cabaret (on October 6th, 1889) will take place at Hale’s Palladium with the ‘Moulin To Moisture Festival Fundraising Party & Auction.’
This weekend, see the Sloth Bears – Randy and Tasha – at the Woodland Park Zoo for the last time until the completion of construction on their new exhibit space, scheduled for 2014. To say good-bye to the bears, who will move into an off-view area for the duration, stop by the Zoo on September 15th -16th between 9:30a – 6p. Entrance fees will apply.
This Sunday, September 16th, between 8a & Noon, the sidewalks of Fremont may be awash in pink t-shirts and determined striders as the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk makes its way through the Center of the Universe.
This Fall, the evo store that has been a western gateway for Fremont (on N 36th St at 1st Ave NW,) will move across the Center of The Universe to become an eastern gateway on Stone Way (at N 35th St.)
This Saturday, September 15th, starting at 9p, LoreDona returns to the White Rabbit with the latest production of the lively (and lovely) Vintage Spectacular. With a variety of performances from some delicious and delectable ladies, plus live music from the sensational Mark Siano & The Enablers, at $10 a ticket (for those 21+) this evening’s entertainment qualifies as a real bargain.
On Wednesday, September 12th, at 6:30p, meet the Freedom Socialist candidates for President and Vice-President of the United States at the Gypsy Café.
Last weekend, Sep 8th & 9th, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce produced the first-ever Universe Classic Wiffle Ball Tournament – and it appears to have been a smashing success!
Fremont Oktoberfest takes place at N 35th St & Phinney Ave N from September 21st – 23rd, with plenty of activities, music, food, fun, and – as always – beer!
On Tuesday, September 11th, from 7p – 9p, the second-ever ‘Quiz Night For Day’ will take place at Pecado Bueno. While registration has closed for teams to play in the trivia contest, there will be rooms for (quiet) spectators who want to dine and donate to B.F. Day Elementary School.
