The remaining rays of summer will be celebrated at Fremont Mischief Distillery in its new outdoor concert space. On Saturday, September 8th starting at 6p, enjoy live music by St. Paul de Vence and Le Wrens, while enjoy beverages from the cash bar and dining on food from Foodz Catering.
Word on the street is that the Seattle Office of the Mayor is consulting with Fremont property and business owners along one block of North 34th Street – between Fremont Ave N and Troll Ave N – about giving that stretch an honorary name in memory of Seattle’s favorite clown, J.P. Patches.
On Thursday, August 30th, from 6:30 – 8p, another opportunity will be available to learn about the plans to improve the public playground at B.F. Day Elementary School. This Open House will also allow input on playground development and give information on the design development.
This Saturday, August 25th, enjoy the final Fremont Outdoor Cinema of the 20th Anniversary season with ‘Dudefest 3: I Am The Walrus’. Throw on your bathrobe and lace up your bowling shoes, and come out for a special engagement screening of the Coen Brothers’ cult classic film, ‘The Big Lebowski.’
This week, August 23rd – 26th, the 2012 USA Canoe Kayak Sprint National Championships will be held in the Small Craft Center at Green Lake, at the southwest ‘corner’ of the park.
A locally produced documentary, on the history of the Fremont Arts Council, the Fremont Troll and installation of public art, will have a second screening on August 26th at 6p at the Doric Lodge #92. This screening is specifically for those who want to stay after and offer constructive opinions during an optional Q & A session.
The Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) is seeking help to assemble a team of staff, web users and volunteers to redesign its website.
This fall, starting in late-September, classes will get underway for those wanting to explore their creativity. This 12-week series of classes, taught to the workbook ‘The Artist’s Way,’ by Julia Cameron, will help those who think they can’t be creative, and those wishing to build on their creative ways.
It’s time to spiff up the SPACE art installation, at N 36th St & Evanston Ave N. The Fremont Chamber of Commerce and the Fremont Arts Council have both contributed money for equipment and materials – all that is needed now is the people-power!
