Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!

Enjoy A Selection of Up-coming Theo Chocolate Events

The master chocolatiers at Theo Chocolate have two exciting events upcoming. On Monday, January 23rd, from 7p – 9:30p, Theo founders Joe Whinney and Debra Music will present Salon II, this time with Maggie Savarino. Then, on Saturday, January 28th from 2p – 5p, a Theo chocolatier will lead a hands-on confection making class.

‘White Hot’ Production Postponed One Week

Due to an emergency situation, the premiere of ‘White Hot’ by Tommy Smith at West of Lenin will be postponed by one week – to officially open Friday, January 27th. The show will run Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays for three weeks (plus one industry night performance on Monday, February 6th,) ending on February 11th.

Design Review Meeting for 4111 Stone Way N on Jan 23rd

On Monday, January 23rd, at 6:30p, the Design Review Board will hear a presentation on a proposed four-story structure for 4111 & 4115 Stone Way North. The meeting will take place in room 209 of the University Heights Center, and is open to the public, and will allow for comments on the proposed design.

On-line Resources For Adverse Weather Situations

The forecasters got it right. Fremont has been hit with a serious snow storm on Wednesday, January 18th. For Fremonsters with internet access, Fremont Emergency Preparedness Representative John Nordstrand, of History House, sent along on-line resources to check on throughout the storm.

Seattle Public Utilities Issues Updates on Garbage Pick-Up, Storm Drains and Pipes

Current ice and snow conditions have been fairly mild in Fremont, compared to the rest of Seattle, and King County. Seattle Public Utilities still plans regular garbage collection during the storm, and issued suggestions about storm drains and pipes. Also, information from the City of Seattle Office of Emergency Management, and tips on how to ‘Take Winter By Storm,’ can be found on www.takewinterbystorm.org. A list of breaking news notices can be seen on-line. Also a list of school closures can be referenced on-line.

Have you heard? Pete’s Fremont Fire Pit has opened for lunch and dinner. The first fully Fremont restaurant to celebrate the culture and craziness created here at the Center of the Universe, offers mouth-watering BBQ, burgers and booze.

Fremont Chamber Hosts Its Annual ‘Events Meeting’ on January 18th

On Wednesday, January 18th, at 8a, at the Lake Washington Rowing Club, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce will host its annual gathering for event organizers and community members. Attendees can hear plans about this year’s activities, learn the promotional opportunities available to area businesses, raise concerns about past experiences, suggest improvements, and get involved on the ground level as a volunteer.
