This summer, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will repave North 34th Street from Fremont Avenue North to Stone Way North. On the nights of Monday, July 11th and Tuesday, July 12th, crews will remove the existing top layer of asphalt from the street with a pavement grinding machine. They will work on the north side of the street on July 11th, and the south side on July 12th, according to the current schedule.
Sunday, July 10th, from 2p – 4p, will be the latest installment in the free concert series held in the covered courtyard at History House. Come enjoy Music In the Sculpture Garden, and a Sunday afternoon of high-quality acoustic music.
On Saturday, July 9th, from 1p – 4p, the Seattle Police Foundation will host the North Seattle ‘Picnic At the Precinct’ at the Seattle Police Department North Precinct (10049 College Way North.)
On Monday, July 11th, starting at 6:30p, a Design Review Early Design Guidance meeting will be held at University Heights Center (5031 University Way NE) about a proposal for a 4 or 5-story building at 4111 Stone Way North. At the early guidance meeting, the permit applicants for this project will present information, and the public may offer comments.
This Saturday, July 9th, the Fremont Outdoor Movies will screen the 2004 Will Ferrell romp Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. This comedy takes on the culture of the 1970s, and action news, in a high-camp style ideal for the Outdoor Cinema setting.
On Monday, July 4th, the North Seattle Transfer Station – located on North 35th Street east of Stone Way – will be closed for all services. The South Seattle Recycling & Disposal Station, in the South Park neighborhood, will be open regular business hours (from 8a – 5:30p,) however. Seattle garbage, food & yard waste, and recycling collections will be on normal schedule on Monday, July 4th, a Federal holiday.

Yes, Saturday, July 2nd starting at 2p is all about zombie culture, zombie fun and brains – for you. But for the Fremocentrist.com, this year’s Red, White & Dead fest – particularly the annual Zombie Walk through Fremont that begins its lurch at 6p – is about securing our World Record. So, slather on some fake blood, slip on a something worn and ripped (you know you were going to anyway…) and stagger down to North 35th Street & Phinney Avenue North for an afternoon zombie party!
As usual, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk (this month on July 1st) contains too much to see, do and experience during its much too short window, from 6p to 9p. Solution? Review the offerings (always listed in advance on the website) and plot a course.
