Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!

B.F. Day Art Teacher Julie Trout Honored

Local teacher Julie Trout has earned the honor of Puget Sound Educational Service District Regional Teacher of the Year for 2012. Trout has served as visual arts teacher at B.F. Day Elementary School since 2008, and has seen to it that her students, in the process of educating and encouraging creativity, have had opportunities to display their art work for the enjoyment of our entire community.

Emergency Numbers Provided by NPAC

Every month the North Precinct Advisory Council meets at North Seattle Community College (usually in the meeting room off the cafeteria) to allow citizen representatives to meet with members of the Seattle Police Department with any concerns, comments or crime reports their community groups choose to send along. The NPAC also distributes information, including a list of public safety phone numbers and websites for 2011.

Still Time to Train for the ‘Ultimate Beer Run’

Start training for the 9th annual Fremont Oktoberfest 5K presented by Pyramid Breweries, and scheduled for Sunday, September 25th at 10:00am. The official 5K takes runners from Solstice Plaza (near N. 34th Street and Fremont Ave North) along the scenic Burke-Gilman Trail and Lake Union Ship Canal to finish at the Fremont Oktoberfest Pyramid Breweries Village Beer Garden.

More ‘Music In The Sculpture Garden’ To Enjoy!

On Sunday, June 26th, from 2p – 4p, History House of Greater Seattle (790 N 34th) will present another concert in the seventh season of the Music In The Sculpture Garden series. Produced by John Nordstrand, each week’s concert features the best of the Puget Sound’s acoustic musicians performing, free to the public, in the covered, outdoor sculpture garden – this week’s performers are ‘The RooTsters’ and ‘Steve Beck & Friends’.

Ron Davies Tribute CD Release Concert on June 26th

On Sunday, June 26th, the doors open at 7p, as local artists gather to perform a tribute concert for Ron Davies, the talented song writer who passed away. The show also launches the release of a CD of 18 of Davies’ songs, recorded by fans and friends. The concert, at Hale’s Palladium (4301 Leary Way NW,) will feature the considerable talents of many local musicians and performers.
