Hello,

I personally object to the proposed removal of [an] historic, 16 unit affordable apartment building (with rents between $600 and $1,200 per month) to be replaced by 8 new 1.3 million dollar (not affordable) townhomes.

As a city, we are being asked to sacrifice our neighborhood character for the sake of increasing density and affordability.  Here is an example of the opposite – reducing density and increasing housing costs.  And threatening the character of a neighborhood with a dwindling number of modest houses.

The apartment building in question was built in 1909 and retains much if not all of its original detailing.  It is adjacent to the historic Buckaroo Tavern (now Le Coin restaurant.)  It is across the street from three almost identical restored small bungalows.  And a neighborhood of craftsmen homes.

Thank you,

Bruce P.
